⏭️ More Practitioners Starting Their Own Practice. How Upside Intends to Help...
Over the past few months, I’ve noticed a clear trend: every week, at least one practitioner tells me they’re starting their own private practice. It’s no longer a rare move—it’s quickly becoming the future of our industry.
Here’s why this shift is happening and why it matters:
1. Careers in Clubs Have a Shelf Life
Practitioners know that their time in professional clubs or teams won’t last forever. Contracts end, staff changes happen, and sometimes new leadership brings in a completely different performance staff. For many, the question is not if their role will end—but when. Building a private practice gives them a safety net and a long-term path beyond their years inside clubs.
2. World-Class Skills Belong in the Private Market
These practitioners are not just good—they are world-class. They train the best athletes on the planet, keep them healthy, and help them perform under immense pressure. Imagine bringing that same expertise to everyday patients, youth athletes, or even executives. The value they provide in a private practice setting is unmatched, and it’s why demand for their services is growing rapidly.
3. The Intimidation of Going Solo
Of course, starting your own practice isn’t without challenges. Many practitioners feel intimidated by the business side—marketing, building a client base, handling operations, and managing finances. It’s a big leap from working inside a structured team environment where those things are handled for you. That fear often slows down talented practitioners who could otherwise thrive on their own.
4. How Upside Is Helping
This is exactly why we’re building tools for this next chapter in the industry. At Upside, we’ve been working behind the scenes on a new product designed to help private practitioners accelerate their business—whether that’s attracting new clients, supporting key stakeholders in the ecosystem, or scaling their services.
We’re not ready to reveal all the details just yet, but we’re excited to launch it next month. And we believe it will make the process of going solo far less intimidating—and much more rewarding—for practitioners around the world.
The industry is evolving. More practitioners are realizing that they don’t have to rely solely on team contracts for their careers. They can build something of their own, make a broader impact, and secure long-term stability.
And as this shift continues, we at Upside are committed to being there every step of the way—helping practitioners not only step into private practice but thrive in it.
