🎙️ Upside Chat with Pierre Vespignani, CEO of EZTM, an AMS platform for Teams' Performance and Medical Staff

Today we have the honor of interviewing Pierre Vespignani, CEO of EZTM, an AMS platform that can be used by the performance and medical staff of clubs. Pierre is the former physio of the Olympique de Marseille a top Ligue 1 team.

EZTM built an Athlete Management System (AMS) platform. Unlike many existing solutions, it was created to address specific gaps we identified in the international market. They started by studying the tools already used in professional clubs, such as Excel tables for managing data, specialized software for specific areas, and even whiteboards in medical care rooms. They worked to digitize these tools into an integrated platform that provides a unified solution for clubs.

Their AMS platform allows professionals to maintain internal visibility, even in environments where confidentiality and secrecy are paramount. Over the past four years, they’ve worked closely with leading European football and rugby clubs to test, refine, and perfect the system in real-world conditions.

You can click on the link below to see a complete overview of EZTM’s AMS platform (AMS dashboard, mobile app..).

Here are the quotes from the interview with Pierre:

Q1. Can you tell me about your professional career?

  • "I worked for professional clubs for twenty years. During this time, I gained a deep understanding of how clubs operate, the challenges they face, and the needs of both players and staff. Later, I was recruited by the Senegalese national soccer team to work at the Soccer World Cup, which was a significant professional milestone. Following that, I spent the last seven years working for the Olympique de Marseille (Ligue 1), a period during which I honed my expertise in sports operations and management."

  • "These experiences helped me identify critical needs and gaps that existed on the field, particularly in areas like communication, health data management, and the efficiency of operational tools."

Q2. How did you get the idea to build your AMS platform?

  • "We started by observing the specific challenges faced by medical staff in sports environments. My partner, Julien Villard, who is a computer engineer, and I discussed how to address these issues by developing digital tools. Our aim was to create a connected, easy-to-use solution for managing the complex workflows of sports professionals."

  • "We asked ourselves which tools were essential for fieldwork and whether they were already digitized. We realized that many were still manual or fragmented, so we focused on designing a system to centralize and digitize all these tools."

  • "The idea was to bring these tools into a digital format that maintained their practicality while enhancing efficiency, making life easier for the professionals who rely on them every day."

Q3. Can you describe your product in more detail?

  • "Our product is an Athlete Management System (AMS) platform. Unlike many existing solutions, it was created to address specific gaps we identified in the international market."

  • "We started by studying the tools already used in professional clubs, such as Excel tables for managing data, specialized software for specific areas, and even whiteboards in medical care rooms. We worked to digitize these tools into an integrated platform that provides a unified solution for clubs."

  • "The platform allows professionals to maintain internal visibility, even in environments where confidentiality and secrecy are paramount. Over the past four years, we’ve worked closely with leading European football and rugby clubs to test, refine, and perfect the system in real-world conditions."

Q4. What is different about your AMS platform compared to other AMS platforms?

  • "The simplicity of use is our standout feature. We designed the interface to be intuitive and consistent for all types of users, from senior medical professionals to younger therapists and athletes who are more familiar with modern technology."

  • "Our platform is multilingual, so a French medical staff member can seamlessly communicate with an American player or a Spanish coach. It includes a translation module that ensures all entered data is accessible in the user’s chosen language."

  • "We prioritized the protection of health and personal data. Since the platform was developed in France, we adhered to strict regulations concerning data privacy, hosting everything securely on HDS-certified servers."

Q5. What are the competitive advantages of your platform?

  • "Our main competitive advantage is that we integrate all the connected objects and tools that clubs typically use—GPS trackers, heart rate monitors, and more—into one centralized system. This reduces errors, saves time, and provides a holistic view of the athlete’s health and performance."

  • "Our platform bridges the gap between tools meant for athletes and those meant for doctors. Medical staff often found themselves using platforms that didn’t suit their needs. We created a system that truly addresses the medical side of athlete management while remaining highly adaptable."

  • "It’s modular, meaning it can operate independently but also integrates seamlessly with other platforms via APIs. This ensures clubs don’t need to abandon their existing systems but can enhance them with our solution."

  • "We offer the athlete interface for free, while professionals pay a flexible, no-contract subscription, giving users the freedom to use the platform as they see fit."

Q6. What do your clients appreciate the most about your product?

  • "Clients often tell us, 'This platform has all the tools we’ve been using on the field, but now they’re digitized.' They love that they don’t have to enter data multiple times—it’s streamlined and efficient."

  • "Athletes especially value the simplicity of the system. Many of them have said, 'Finally, we have something simple that connects the medical staff with the sports staff.' Before, these departments often operated in silos."

  • "They also appreciate that their health data is treated with the utmost respect. Athletes view their health and its data as their most valuable asset, and our platform ensures it is secure, accessible only by authorized personnel, and under their control."

Q7. If a club or staff member wants to contact you, what’s the best way to reach out to you?

  • "The easiest way is to visit our website at www.eztm.fr/en. There, you’ll find a contact form where you can leave a message. We pride ourselves on being highly responsive, no matter where in the world the inquiry comes from."

  • "Our team makes it a point to reply quickly, providing guidance or arranging a demo session to showcase the platform’s capabilities. We understand the importance of timely support and are committed to meeting that need."
